Anti-Gun Academics Cry: “Please Send Money!”

(from wired.com)
Emma Grey Ellis, who writes for Wired Magazine, was kind enough to share her anti-gun bias with us last month in her article:  “Gun Research Will Get Even More Difficult Under NRA-Friendly Trump”. The first clue to her bias is not the title, but the large picture of a handgun aimed directly at you.  That’s a favorite gambit of anti-gun editors to put you in the right frame of mind to appreciate their enlightened pronouncements. Let me save you the trouble of reading it. (more…)

Guns, Grit and Good Health

(from laraider.com)
Just what is “Good Health”? Does it consist of being free of disease? Is a person, having no diagnosable disease but too weak to walk, in good health? Or, how about a strong and robust man with no diagnosable disease, who is confined to a ten by ten foot prison cell? Is he in good health? Could it be that attaining good health is more complex than just taking lots of vitamins? If you are worried about your health, then you need to make sure that you get yourself checked out by a famil...

Official DRGO Statement Regarding the en banc 11th Circuit Court Wollschlaeger (FOPA) Decision

DRGO is very concerned about this decision. Disregarding the amicus brief in which DRGO, SAF, and CCRKBA pointed out the applicability of the Gentile Balancing Test to this case, the court arrived at a ruling which allows doctors to say whatever they please about firearms. When professional medical organizations are on record saying their aims are to reduce firearms ownership, we cannot trust their guidance to be objective or impartial. (more…)

Wollschlaeger (FOPA) Again

(from ipbrief.net)
On February 16 the entire 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on a challenge to Florida’s Firearm Owners’ Privacy Act (a case commonly termed “Docs vs. Glocks”).  The plaintiffs were individual Florida physicians who opposed the law, backed by organized medicine which has made it a crusade for preserving the “free speech” of physicians.  Previously, a three-judge panel from the 11th Circuit had issued three separate opinions upholding the law.  However, the law has never been enforced because ...

Bullets, Bagels, and Bearing Arms

(from Bullets & Bagels, Feb. 12, 2017)
[Ed: This is a speech delivered February 12 by DRGO's Dr. Timothy Wheeler, at the Bullets & Bagels Club at Los Angeles' LAX Range.]  Shalom!  And my thanks to Dr. Fred Kogen, who was kind enough to invite me to speak today.  I am always up for any opportunity to hang out with fellow gunnies, and when you throw in bagels and schmear, and some lox—it’s all good. I would like to read a brief passage from one of America’s founding documents: (more…)

A Call to Arms

(from cardcow.com)
In my talk at the Gun Rights Policy Conference in Florida last fall, I stated that “The medical establishment has taken up arms against our right to bear arms [and] . . . It takes other physicians to speak out against them”. At that time many of us were hoping for a President Trump but were afraid that it would not happen. Now that we have him, we hope that many things will change. But President Trump cannot change the leftist views that much of the medical establishment leadership holds ...

SHOT Showcased

(from shootingillustrated.com)
Several weeks ago I mentioned attending the National Shooting Sports Foundation SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show). I've been asked to talk about some of the things that might be of interest to a, believe it or not, pediatrician (!) at this gathering of ‘The Evil Gun Industry’. It almost goes without saying that there couldn’t have been many of us baby docs in attendance. The American Academy of Pediatrics is a well-known anti-gun agitator in organized medicine, after all. ...
